Another thriller against Homba, this time a small pointer at Pol Lz. Both sides try to remain annonymous, but H mortars rain down and kill their share of my inf. Seeing that my Schweres was not going to make up the difference, I decided on some probes with inf, followed by a mkiii. Finding a mort team, ad hoc and stu, the Reserve unit engages with a Scharfshutzen. The G sniper has good los on the stu so I bring up the Mkiii for a kill shot...only after he unjammed an mg and the 5 cm. Retreating, a mortar round catches the trees and sends shrapnel into the tank, igniting it, damn..not the word I used though. With the south weakened I rush the other mkiii from the north, after seeing a sorry assault on an ad hoc unit by a Reserve. Hombas ad hocs are dangerous. The mkiii arrives just in time to hear a zook firing from the 2 story in the east. Also, spotters see a flameguy moving into the woods. Suddenly my rear is pointed at a zook in a crater...get me the heck out of here. The mkiii successfully leaves the area and slows for a moment to pay respects to the other mkiii crew blow up by the mortar...slowed for too long because ANOTHER mortar round sends these Nazis to Hades as well. damn...again not the word I was thinking at the time. Allies were working hard at staying out of sight and it would have taken German heroics to pull this win off. The mortars just ended it sooner than it would normally have taken...VGG. K0
