| | Another great one zon, this one even closer. Son Town, 115a 145g. Start zones are east and west. 3 VLs down the middle, one inbetween the warehouses in the north, one in the treeline in the middle, one just east of the road in the very south. I decided to go with 2 hetzers picked first, 2 elite mortars, a 11pt army flamer and an army shreck. Really good stats all around for my units. I took two elite snipers an FJ Aufk and 6 aufks for inf. I was going to contest the north VL early, try to secure it. Then move on the south, sneak to the center if need be. A hetzer and mortar in the south, and same in the north. Two aufks, sniper, and flamer ran for the VL in the north at start. First action was up north, Zon raced a Croc and inf toward the buildings, fired on by my hetzer with LOS through the treeline, mortar killed 2 ad hoc guys. The croc I dont believe i got a shot on it, and it made it up to the back of the building. Ugh. My sniper who had run all the way into the last building threw a brick at the Croc and ran away with flames licking at his heels. A Rifle team and the partial ad hoc (maybe another ad hoc) were in the area, and the ad hoc made contact with my aufks, my mortar was opening up on the building at this point, getting some hits, I ran the flamer up and put a burst on the ad hoc, then ran back, fearing mortar fire. But none came. Zon had a tricky support team of the Croc, FF, Crom, and a deadly Vickers in the two story that picked off my men one at a time for at least 7 kills (leader had 7 credited, each assistant had 4 credits each, probably shared). This was tricky because I was afraid the entire game of a flamer crawling up behind my tanks, but zon had taken a risk in going with only 4 support units. As I was having success up north, my north mortar at the hedgerow came under direct and intense fire from the cromwell way down south. Two men died quick, I managed to crawl the other guy forward nearly behind the buildings. 20 rounds left, so I spent them up before this guy broke, I hit the building and behind the building, probing for the rifle team, but only got a kill or two. About 5 rounds were saved. My two aufk teams, sniper and flamer I backed off to the west end of the two buildings. The allies could have this VL for now. After a while they made a foray - zook was sneaking along the very north, but my 5 bar sniper nailed both men at about 25m range. The Rifle came across, and I sent the last mortar rounds their way. I saw them coming and got my flamer into position, hit them twice, but I was a little slow, and the flamer was engaged and killed in H2H, even as my sniper was rushed to save him, finishing off everyone else. The allies were left with only the croc in the north now, and I tagged the VL. But another ad hoc came up and got it back. I was left with a two man, two faust, aufk and the sniper. They stayed out of harms way in the back. Things began hitting the fan in the south as that VL became contested. I managed to take out 2 more zook teams down there, blast a BAR team trying to overwatch from the building with the hetzer and tear up a Rifle team with mortar and hetzer fire. I caught a break when the Crom at the ditch sailed a shot past my Hetzer, who returned fire and got a one shot kill. This would be repaid in spades later. My hetzer was so low on ammo, I had to hide him. Three AP rounds were ultimately left. A Bren moved up, and was used to great effect, torching my moved-up mortar team and partial aufks. I managed to kill two of them, but they directly or indirectly caused a lot of casualties. Really nice work by Zon. I hated those bren just a little less than that Vickers. Zon put a great kill on my more ammo hetzer on a very narrow LOS right down the road about that time. I didnt know the FF was watching the road from the bridge, and as I moved away from engaging the Bren, I got shot through the back. Things quited down, I had crawled my empty north mortar down to get the center VL. Wiped out the ad hoc that moved down from the north VL and tried to take the center it back with help of a fresh aufk laying in the tall grass on defend. Works great for throwing nades as soon as enemy is spotted. Croc began to manuever at this point, getting around the north edge of the north building, I was afraid of area fire before I could target with the aufks, and backed off to the next building. My 3 AP round hetzer, I sped up to the top, up to the hedgerow, thinking I had the croc with its weak 75mm gun dead and burried. Well, I got a shot off, but missed, and then the croc capped me at the hedgerow with one shot! Now Im tankless. The croc appears to be trying to back off. I have to take my chances now, and sneak the aufk into firing position. The croc appears to be stuck on the corner of the building. I couldnt tell for sure, but I was hoping the hull-mounted flamethrower would be blocked by the buidling. One aufk lets a faust fly, and I had to have this hit. BOOM. Thank goodness. Ultimately the Bren and Vickers move up, backed by the FF against one empty & wounded sniper, three partial aufk teams and a full schreck yet to see action, but waiting in a prime spot if the FF moves up. I passed on several shots at infantry contesting the center VL, not wanting to reveal my position. I am convinced the north flank is wide open now, and I know my 2 aufks there have one faust left. Seeing the hated vickers vacate the 2 story building and move toward the center, I sneak through the north field. Agonizingly, one of the aufks is incredibly SLOW. Not wounded, just markedly slower than his comrade. At one point his buddy started to get up to run back to him. UGH! I was lucky the vickers didnt see them. I got them back on track together and made it to the two story. The FF wasnt aware of me, and was only 35m away. The slow guy had the faust, and got into position, aimed and fired. The FF blew up. Each of those aufks received an Iron Cross (2nd class). The vickers and bren were no match for the hail of MP40 and schreck fire that came at them from the buildings around the center VL and were soon in full flight. A really seesaw game, 2.5 hours we think. Fantastic CC. Really enjoyed it, Zon. Til next time. H | Opponent's AAR By: zon

Random AARs By: PZLeader Opponent: BR_Braz Date: 2002-08-31| Oos.North. A140 G100. One VL at the crater near the bridge. The PZL takes zee Germans and sees furious close combats amongst the infantry. Braz utilizes three Mortar units in deadly unison as advancing German infantry, or infantry established in bldgs get bombarded. A 232 escapes a shi*load of shells until one connects. But, easily, at least 20 misses were counted. The Allies take the VL and hold it for the rest of the game, except for a brief minute when a RESERVE unit was able to wrestle it away. The Germans lose a critical tank duel when a MK III and a SHERMAN exchange two shots each before the SHERMAN destroys the panzer on third shot. Frustrating, considering that the MK III had set-up earlier, established the LOS lane, but the damn AI moved the panzer just when the SHERMAN came into the area, thus giving the first shot to the Allied tank !!! Bull*hit !! But Braz had a good defensive perimeter and the Germans saw every attempt go against them. The game ends when a 2 bar MK III surrenders to 2 AB RECON men at the VL !!! Unfortunately for the Germans, the dancing targets syndrome appeared twice in the game...ORDERING UNITS TO ENTER A BLDG BUT THEY DECIDE TO STAY OUTSIDE AND GET SHOT AT... Lots of fun anyways !!!!
